I remember my mother once balancing an egg on its end on the autumn Equinox. This could only take place within the actual hour of the equinox, and not a moment later. She did it, and was elated.
We in America have endured some really difficult storms, with their inevitable loss of homes, and even some loss of life. And there has been devastation in the way of earthquakes in Mexico, floods in Houston and in the SouthEast, the islands of the Caribbean being deeply affected...all this coming on the heels of the Lunar Eclipse of August. It seems the Earth is speaking to us loudly.
Are we listening? Can we take the events of these last number of months as a wake-up call to notice, take note, and not plunder our precious Mother Earth? How can we restore balance?
As an Alexander Technique teacher, I have made my career helping people restore balance in their own bodies. I believe that as we bring loving attention to ourselves, and come more into alignment with our physical selves, we are also restoring balance in a wider way. As we connect to our natural uprightness, we also align our best selves with our world.
In doing this, there is a possibility of awakening to a shared value of congruence and poise in our environment, "As Above, So Below", and a willingness to commit more consciously to restoring life and wholeness and balance in our communities, our country, and our world.
I wish you an abundance of good health in the new season. May we all find the strength to live from our values, alignment, and conviction, so that we are truly beacons for others. As we embrace the possibility of balance, let there be peace and gentleness on our path.
