I know how it feels. Like hide your head under the covers bad. When I started my first business, I neglected to think about the marketing I would have to do to promote myself. It didn't feel "used car salesman" yucky, but I naively thought that I had already done the prep work for my business and people would somehow just magically show up at my door. Ha!
Those first workshops I did at the local YMCA had three people show up! So we pulled our chairs close, and set about offering the training that I held so dear. Slightly embarrassing, but doable.
Then when I discovered online education and decided to lead my first tele-seminar, you are not going to believe this, but there were two people who dialed in. Two. Well, with me, that made three. Sigh.
The truth is, if you don't get out and talk about your work, you WILL be the best-kept secret, and your business will suffer.
So here is my question to you: What is your fear about networking? Where could you go to present yourself and your work to other interesting, like-minded people. Where you could maybe offer to take someone out to coffee and see how you could mutually help each other.
What if you could google possible speaking opportunities in your area and then create a talk that would highlight your offerings in a pleasing way?
Here is my coach's request for you today; bite the bullet and think about ONE place you could contact to see about getting up on stage and being a featured speaker. Then make the contact, and see what happens!
