My big revolution this year, is wondering if and how I am truly living at choice. We are such habituated creatures, yet we think we have the freedom to choose. The first time some kind of change or need to alter our behavior toward a bigger goal comes our way, there is a deep inner STOP sign that tends to take over! No I can't do that! It is out of my comfort zone. No way!
So what is it really like to be at choice? I think of some mentors/writers/philosophers who have been way-showers for me; David Henry Thoreau, for example:
“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
― Henry David Thoreau, Walden: Or, Life in the Woods
I also think of friends who have stuck to their principles and lived their lives with integrity and congruency, and these people have had a profound affect on me.
I also think of the Spiritual guides that have led me past the small ego self and into a greater sense of being and purpose, those who connect with the source of being and find a way to communicate it back into the day to day. they tend to live their lives with a simplicity and creativity that brings forward the best in all of us.
So what revolution would you support at the beginning of this new year? What could you do that breaks open your habitual patterns and brings you to a simpler, clearer center? Imagine something that turns you around 180 degrees in the direction of your dreams.
This is what I wish for you at the beginning of this new year...possibility, imagination, breakthroughs!
